Women's Basketball Picked Sixth in SAC Preseason Poll


ROCK HILL, S.C. ( -- Catawba was selected sixth in the 2017-18 South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll. Terri Rogers was a preseason first team All-SAC pick, while Serena Brown was named to the second team. Wingate garnered seven first-place votes to be tabbed as the preseason favorite to win the league championship.

Rogers, a senior forward, was Catawba’s top scorer and rebounder last season, averaging 18 points and 8.8 rebounds a contest. She connected on 51% of her shots from the field and canned nearly 75% at the line. Rogers blocked a team high 17 shots and added 26 steals.

Brown, a senior point guard, averaged a league-leading 5.4 assists a game a year ago. She chipped in with 10.3 points a contest and averaged four rebounds. Brown connected on 29 three-pointers and shot 85% at the line. She recorded 41 steals.

The 2017-18 Women's Basketball season gets underway on Friday Nov. 10. Catawba will face Mount Olive at 2 pm in the SAC/CC Challenge in Hickory, N.C.
