Career-Highs From Rogers and Hallman Lift Women's Basketball Over Chowan
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Terri Rogers and Madison Hallman posted career-highs to help Catawba snap a three-game slide with a 75-72 win over visiting Chowan in women’s basketball action on Monday night at Goodman Gym. The Catawba Indians improve to 2-3, while the previously unbeaten Hawks fall to 4-1.

The teams played through seven ties and eight lead changes. Both teams put up 40 points in the second half, leaving Hallman’s buzzer-beating three-pointer to close the first half as the winning margin.
A 12-1 run over a five-minute span in the opening quarter paced the Lady Indians to an early 15-7 edge. It was 15-9 at the end of the first 10 minutes, but Chowan eventually tied it on a Roberts three-pointer with 53 second remaining in the half. Rogers put Catawba back on top, but Dhyamond Crenshaw tied it again with five seconds left. Hallman was able to get up court and get off a 22-footer as time expired for Catawba’s 35-32 edge at the break.
Chowan used a 9-2 run to open the second half to go on top 41-37 following a four-point play by Lee, who was fouled while making a three-pointer. The lead changed hands several times during the period with another late Hallman three (at the 21 second mark) put the Lady Indians up 50-47 after three quarters.
Catawba jumped to a 60-53 with 7:39 to go on the last of Hallman’s five three-pointers. Chowan clawed back, cutting the margin to a point on a three-pointer by Roberts with 5:34 to go.
