Shutout streak continues as Women's Soccer blanks Erskine

DUE WEST, SC – Catawba College, ranked 16th in NCAA II, collected a school record-tying sixth straight shutout with a 3-0 win over host Erskine in women’s soccer action on Wednesday night. The win ups the Lady Indians record to 12-1, while Erskine falls to 3-6-2. Senior Jamie Fink (Woodbridge, VA) snapped a scoreless tie with an unassisted goal in the 57th minute. It marked her fourth goal over the last four matches and third game-winner. Just over seven minutes later sophomore Stephanie Morey (Ephrata, PA) gave Catawba an insurance goal off an assist from Kim Crowley (Glendale, AZ). Kyley Thompson (Hagerstown, MD), also a sophomore notched her team-leading 10th tally of the season in the 72nd minute to close out the scoring. Sophomore goalkeeper Cathrine Balentine (Charlotte, NC) made one save off just two shots from the Flying Fleet as she tied Kim Clayton’s school record of six straight shutouts. She has now raised her consecutive scoreless minute streak to 544 minutes. As a team, the Lady Indians are just 36 minutes shy of the school record streak of 580 scoreless minutes, while Clayton holds the individual mark at 602 shutout minutes.
