Tough Shooting Night For Women's Basketball Leads to Loss at LMU
HARROGATE, TN - - Catawba dropped a South Atlantic Conference women's basketball game 43-60 at host Lincoln Memorial on Saturday afternoon in Turner Arena. The Catawba Lady Indians fall to 3-4 on the season and 1-1 in the SAC, while the win improves the Railsplitters to 4-3 and 1-1 in conference play.
The Lady Indians scored the first five points of the game and only trailed momentarily after the Railsplitters rattled off seven straight. Elizabeth Webb answered with a three to reclaim the lead for Catawba. The Lady Indians took a 14-11 edge into the second 10-minute period.
Lincoln-Memorial scored first in the second quarter to cut Catawba’s lead to two. Madison Hallman drained a three to increase the Indians lead to five. The Railsplitters chipped away at Catawba’s lead and tied the game at 21-all with 3:47 left in the half. Catawba scored only two more points and were down 26-23 deficit to the break.
The Railsplitters scored first after the half and held the Lady Indians to only three points until the 2:41 mark. Catawba scored five points to close out the third quarter, but begin the fourth period trailing 42-31. Lincoln Memorial maintained their edge throughout the fourth quarter, leading by as many as 19.
Catawba shot 82% from the free line, but only 25% from the field and had 19 turnovers. Lincoln Memorial shot 79% from the line and 36% from the field. Serena Brown led all players with 12 points including a pair of threes. Terri Rogers added eight points and 12 rebounds for the Lady Indians. Qua Hines led Lincoln-Memorial’s offense with 11 points.
The Lady Indians return to Goodman Gym to host Tusculum College for a South Atlantic Conference game on December 9 at 2 pm.
