Baseball Inks Six in Early Signing Period


SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba College Baseball Coach, Jim Gantt, has announced six early signings for the 2019 recruiting class. Joining Catawba are Robbie Cowie, of Lincolnton, N.C., Alex Holland, of Hampstead, N.C., Bryson Linkous, of Mt. Holly, N.C., Cameron Mills, of Winston-Salem, N.C., Lyle Pfingst, of Clemmons, N.C., and Anthony Ponce, of Miami, Fla.

Cowie, a pitcher and outfield at Lincolnton High School, has earned all-conference in both baseball and basketball. He helped the Wolves to a conference title in basketball and played for Legion Post 100 that played in the state tournament.

Holland, is a pitcher from Topsail High School. He is serving as a captain as a senior and helped the Pirates to a spot in the 2017 3A Regional final.

Linkous is a pitcher from Stuart Cramer High School. He was named all-conference and all-Gaston County, helping the Storm to the playoffs.

Mills is a middle infielder from Ledford High School. He is an all-conference performer and earned the Golden Bat Award for the Panthers.

Pfingst is a catcher from West Forsyth High School and Ponce a catcher and outfielder from Ferguson High School.
