Men's Golf Finishes 14th at Spring Kick-Off
FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. – Catawba wrapped up play at the Spring Kick-Off Intercollege Men’s Golf Tournament on Tuesday and finished 14th among 17 teams. The event was held at the 6,633-yard, par-71 Fleming Island Golf Club.
Lincoln Memorial edged Young Harris for the team title on a scorecard playoff after both teams finished with 856 score after three rounds. Lander was five shots back in third. Catawba had a 902 total.
Trey Burton led Catawba, finishing 32nd, with a score of 220. He followed up his opening 72 with a pair of 74s. Tyler Mulkey shot a two-over-par 73 in round two and finished on 226, while Jordan Taylor rallied from an opening 81 with rounds of 72 and 74 for a 227 total.
Juan Iturra, of Flagler, took medalist honors, finishing with a three-under-par total of 210. Jake Headrick, of Carson-Newman, and Levi Kettelhut, of Belmont Abbey, were two shots back.
Catawba will next host the Richard Rendleman Invitational at the Country Club of Salisbury on March 5-6.
