Cook Scores All Three Goals for Men's Lacrosse in Loss at Mount Olive
MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. -- Catawba scored just one goal after the opening quarter and fell 15-3 at 11th-ranked Mount Olive on Saturday afternoon at the McDonald Complex. The Trojans improve to 2-0, while the Catawba Indians fall to 0-2.
Mount Olive led 3-0 after five minutes, but back-to-back goals from Dalton Cook pulled the Indians within 3-2 at the 5:11 mark of the first. That would be the last goal for Catawba until the final minute of the game.
Cody Graden scored late in the first then added the lone goal of the second quarter at the 14:17 mark as the Trojans grabbed a 5-2 lead at the half. Mount Olive scored the first nine goals of the second half before Cook netted his third of the day with just 1:37 to go.
Thatcher Clark had four goals and an assist to lead Mount Olive. Scott Dagnanleach and Graden both had three goals and an assist. Will Urban made 14 saves in goal for the Trojans. Kevin Geiger played the final 55 minutes for Catawba and recorded 11 saves.
Catawba will tangle with Chowan in its home opener on Friday at 3 pm.
