Women's Soccer shuts out Mars Hill 3-0

MARS HILL, NC -- After a scoreless first half of play, Catawba College exploded for three goals in a 30-minute span in the second half to defeat Mars Hill in South Atlantic Conference women’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Meares Stadium. Catawba improved to 4-2 in the league and 13-3 overall. The Lions fell to 1-5 in conference action and 5-10 overall. Jen Lowe (Enfield, CT) scored what proved to be the game winner at the 54:23 mark off a deflection. Jamie Fink (Woodbridge, VA) then scored on a breakaway in the 73rd minute before Kelly Fearman (Allison, Ontario, Canada) put the game away scoring on a long pass from Kelley Stephens (Boca Raton, FL). Catawba out shot Mars Hill 16-to-3 in the match. Mars Hill keeper Natalie Kotowski (Troy, MI) made 10 saves in goal for the Lions. Catherine Balentine (Charlotte, NC) made two saves in goal for the Lady Indians.
