Men's Soccer falls to Presbyterian in OT

SALISBURY, NC – Derek Knapp (Orange, TX) scored twice, including the game-winner 8:26 into the first overtime period, as the Presbyterian Blue Hose knocked off Catawba College 4-3 in South Atlantic Conference men’s soccer action on Saturday Night at Frock Field. With the victory, the Blue Hose move to 10-4-1 overall, 5-1-1 in the SAC. The Indians fall to 8-5-1 and 4-2. The first goal of the night came at 16:51 of the first half as Zay-Zay Gilewala (Monrovia, LIBERIA) passed to Brennan Regnar (Mebane, NC) who fired a shot into the top right hand corner of the goal to put the Indians up 1-0. Presbyterian responded 1:40 later as Guy Campbell (Arden, NC) picked up his second of the year to tie the contest at 1-1. Catawba would quickly regain momentum 49 seconds later as Gilewala picked up his team-leading 13th of the year, on a breakaway, to put the Indians up 2-1. In the 31st minute, Trent Weber (Lawrenceville, GA) would register his sixth of the year and both teams were deadlocked at 2-2 heading into the half. Knapp would pick up his first of the night in the 58th minute as Jeff Haigler (Columbia, SC) assisted on the goal and the Blue Hose would have their first lead of the night, 3-2. Catawba would respond once again and dominate most of the second half as Ross Hudgins (Poquoson, VA) would send a cross to Nathan Zuzga (Troy, MI) who scored his eighth of the season. With 17:27 left in the second half, Catawba would be rewarded a penalty shot off of a PC foul. Zuzga would take the shot, firing off the crossbar, and the game would stay tied at 3-3. The Indians would get a rare second chance as the Blue Hose committed another foul inside the box and would give the Indians another PK opportunity with 2:28 left in the half. Nick Brown (Ajax, ONT, CANADA) would line up for the shot as goalkeeper Kevin Czar (Lilburn, GA) dove to his left to make the save, ensuring a 3-3 tie at the end of regulation. The contest would end in sudden death overtime as Knapp would pick up the crucial game-winner in the 99th minute.
