Godsey, WIllis set school records at State Cross Country Meet

GREENVILLE, NC Ė Catawba College had records set in both the men and women race at the North Carolina State Meet, hosted by East Carolina University on Saturday morning at Lake Kristi. Ryan Willis (Jonesboro, GA) broke his own 8k time, while freshman Rori Godsey (Washington, SC) became the first Catawba women to break the 20 minute barrier in a 5k. The women were second as a team, while the men were fifth. Willis finished third overall in the menís race with his time of 24:45. He bettered his existing record by 33 seconds, set last season in the same meet. Freshman Brad Heron (Williamsville, NY) ran the schoolís third fastest 8k time at 25:57 and finished 12th. Senior Jesse Howes (Huntington, MA) had a person best time of 26:09 and was 14th. Godsey eclipsed the existing womenís record by 23 seconds, running the course in a time of 19:39. She was eighth overall. Senior Twanita Jones (Newport News, VA) was the next best finisher for Catawba with a time of 20:44 to finish 13th.
