Women's Golf Finishes Eighth as Coltrane Records First Hole-In-One
BLUFFTON, S.C. -- Catawba shot a second-round 321, but stayed in eighth place after the final round of the Low Country Invitational Women’s Golf Tournament on Tuesday. Wingate hosting the event at the 5,884-yard, par-71 Crescent Pointe Golf Club.
Tuesday was highlighted by Sarah Coltrane, who scored her first hole-in-one. Coltrane aced the par-3, 152-yard second hole. She followed up her opening 79 with another 79 and was 15th at the tournament. Kaley Barts took all-tournament honors with a fifth-place finish with a score of 151.
Western Michigan took the team title, shooting a tournament best 295 on the final day. The 606 total was 12 shots better than runner-up Lenoir-Rhyne. Catawba carded in a 655 score. Lise Malherbe, of Lincoln Memorial, took medalist honors. She was one of four co-leaders after round one then shot a one-under 70 to win by two shots over Julia Champion, of Western Michigan.
The Lady Indians will place next week in the Coker Invitational at the Hartsville (SC) Country Club.
