Hunt Scores Five Goals in Loss to IUP
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Indiana (Pa.), ranked 17th in NCAA II, claimed a 25-7 win over host Catawba in women’s lacrosse action on Thursday afternoon at Shuford Stadium. The win improves the Crimson Hawks to 3-0 on the year, while the Catawba Indians fall to 5-5.
Catawba kept the game close during the first half. Nicole Hunt had a pair of early goals as the Lady Indians trailed only 3-2 after six minutes. Hunt added three more goals before the break, her last had Catawba within 11-6 at the 2:02 mark.
IUP opened a 14-6 edge by the half. Ally Burrows scored twice within a minute of Hunt’s goal and Bri Chavis added a final tally just seven seconds before the break. The Crimson Hawks edged away in the second half. Burrows had three goals in the first 12 minutes as IUP took a 19-6 lead.
Adriana Greco led the Crimson Hawks with six goals and added an assist. Burrows picked up three assists with her five tallies. Riley Greenleaf followed with four goals and two assists.
Catawba returns to league play on Wednesday with a 4 pm game at Wingate.
