Men's Lacrosse Storms Past Coker in Second Half
HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Catawba rallied from a 7-5 halftime deficit to post a 14-8 win over host Coker in South Atlantic Conference men’s lacrosse action on Thursday afternoon at the Coker Athletic Field. The Catawba Indians improve to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in the SAC, while the Cobras fall to 3-4 and 0-2.
Coker used a five-goal run that spanned the first and second quarters to take a 6-2 lead. Rylee Marsh started and ended the run. The Indians trailed 7-3 late in the half, but got a goal from Chase Scott with 1:36 to go and another from Liam Lynch with just a second on the clock to close within 7-5 at the break.
Catawba took control in the second half, limiting the Cobras to just a single goal which came with 9:04 remaining and the Indians up 12-7. Scott’s goal late in the first half started a stretch of nine unanswered goals for Catawba. Lynch tallied three times in that surge.
Marsh and Denton Wilks scored twice for Coker. Chris Hagy collected seven saves.
Catawba travels to Wingate on Wednesday night for a 7 pm contest.
