Men's Golf Settles For Fourth at Bank of TR Invitational
BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. -- Catawba shot a 299 on Tuesday’s second round of the Bark of TR Invitational Men’s Golf Tournament and slipped to a fourth-place finish out of 10 teams. The tournament was held at the 6,931-yard, par-72 Columbia Country Club.
Southern Wesleyan rallied from three back to win the tournament. They held off Erskine, who shot a 287 on day two, by two shots. Southern Wesleyan finished at 588. Catawba had a 594 total. Erskine’s Jonathan Costello claimed medalist honors with a two-under-par 142 score. He topped Seth Robertson, of North Greenville, by two shots.
Catawba’s Mack Sheppard finished in a tie for third. He posted a 145 score, shooting rounds of 72 and 73. Following Sheppard was Trey Burton in 18th with a 151 total. Jordan Taylor joined Sheppard with Tuesday’s best round for an Indian with a 73. Sheppard had eight birdies in the tournament, while Burton totaled six and Taylor five.
Next for Catawba is the Tennessee Rumble on April 3-4 at the Tennessee National Golf Club in Loudon, Tenn.
