Ketchie and Bowden Lead Baseball Past Barton
WILSON, N.C. - - Bryan Ketchie and Chance Bowden led the Catawba Indians past host Barton in baseball action on Tuesday at Nixon Field. The 10-5 win improves Catawba’s record to 17-16, while Barton falls to 9-25.
Ketchie earned his first win of the season allowing four runs on five hits while striking out five over six innings pitched. Bowden went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs, hitting his ninth homerun and 13th double of the season. Jackson Raper also added two hits and a RBI for the Indians.
Catawba plated their first two runs in the top of the second on a fielder’s choice and a wild pitch. The Indians tallied six runs on just two hits, including a bases-loaded triple by Kyle Smith.
Bowden homered to left field to score two in the seventh for the Indians to take a 10-0 lead. Barton scored five runs on five hits in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead in half. Both teams finished the eighth and ninth innings without adding a run.
Catawba will travel to Anderson for a South Atlantic Conference series beginning with a double header on Friday. Game one is set to begin at 2 pm.
