Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Anderson
ANDERSON, S.C. - - The Catawba Indians split the South Atlantic Conference double header with Anderson in baseball action Friday in Memorial Stadium. Catawba took game one 9-8 and dropped game two 8-0. The Indians are now 18-17 overall and 12-5 in the SAC, while the Trojans are now 11-20 and 6-11 in the conference.

led Catawba’s offense going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and scoring four runs. Jacob Nester
and Lee Poteat
each added two hits and two and three RBIs, respectively.
The Trojans took an early 4-0 lead after one complete inning. Poteat hit a triple with Butts and Nester on base to plate two runs for the Indians in the second to cut the lead to 4-2. Chance Bowden led off the third inning with a homerun to put another run on the board for Catawba.
Anderson added a run in the third and fifth innings to take a 6-3 lead. Catawba tacked on a run in the sixth and three runs in the seventh to take their first lead of the game.
The Trojans answered with two runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning to regain the lead. The Indians bounced back to take the final lead of the game when Butts hit a two run homer to left field in the top of the ninth.
The Indians struggled offensively in game two. Kyle Smith and Jacob Nester
were the only two players to record hits. Connor Johnson received the loss, allowing six runs on eight hits over five innings.
Anderson scored four of their runs in the bottom of the first inning, with three coming from a homerun by Overton. The Trojans added a run in the third and fifth innings to take a 6-0 lead. Anderson plated two unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth to finish the game 8-0.
Catawba and Anderson will conclude the three game series on Saturday at 1 pm.
