Softball Swept On Road Against Anderson
Anderson, SC -- Catawba fell on the road to Anderson in a South Atlantic Conference softball doubleheader at AU Softball Complex on Sunday afternoon. The Trojans took game one 2-1 in eight innings and shutout the Lady Indians 4-0 in game two. The Trojans are now 27-11 on the year and 9-5 in conference, while the Lady Indians are 19-20 overall and 7-7 in conference.
Catawba would come out in the first scoring a run. Allie Baker would bunt to get on first followed by Kaylee Cook doubling to left center to score Baker. Anderson would follow scoring a run in the first as well from Joshlyn Martin flying out to center field and Kasey Grant scoring on a throwing error from the centerfielder.
Trojans would score the final run in over time during the eighth inning. Barefield would start on second base and score on a single through the left side from Meghan Majeski.
Kayla Pepper would take the win in game one for the Trojans improving to 9-4 overall giving up seven hits and striking out three batters. Preston Ellenberg would take the loss for The Lady Indians set her back to 6-3 overall giving up five hits and walk as well as having five strike outs in the seven and a partial innings she pitched.
Anderson would take a shut out win over Catawba with a 4-0 win. The Trojans would score all four of their runs in the second inning off a two out rally. Cailah Niles would hit a homerun to center field with bases loaded to score four runs.
Harlie Duncan would take the shut out win in game two giving up only one hit and one walk in her seven innings on the mound. She would improve to 12-3 overall. Brooke Walser would take the loss falling to 5-10 overall and giving up a total of seven hits and one walk in the four innings she pitched.
Catawba host Wingate on Wednesday for a 2 pm doubleheader.
