Two second half tallies lift Women's Soccer to record-tying win

MISENHEIMER, NC – Freshmen McKenzie Burman (Rolesville, NC) and Leigh Telzrow (Dallas, TX) scored second half goals as Catawba earned a non-conference win over host Pfeiffer in women’s soccer action on Monday afternoon. The Lady Indians improve to 15-3 with the win, tying the school record for wins set last season. Pfeiffer falls to 6-8-1. Catawba opened the scoring in the third minute as sophomore Kyley Thompson (Hagerstown, MD) took a cross from Lindsay Albers (Portland, OR) and headed home her team-leading 12th goal of the season. The score would remain 1-0 until just after the half when Pfeiffer’s Katie Batsura scored the equalizer in the 50th minute. Burman then scored in the 70th minute off a cross from Stephanie Morey (Ephrata, PA) and Telzrow followed in the 85th minute off a pass from Haley Bollinger (Simpsonville, SC). Amanda Johnson (Charlotte, NC) made five saves in goal for Catawba. The Lady Indians held a 14-7 edge in shots.
