Barts Takes Home Second Team All-SAC Women's Golf Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) -- Catawba sophomore Kaley Barts has been named to the 2018 All-South Atlantic Conference Women’s Golf Second Team. Wingate’s Diana McDonald was the Women’s Golfer of the Year, while Anderson’s Anna Freeman was named the Freshman of the Year. Wingate’s Erin Thorne was named the Coach of the Year as announced by the SAC office on Friday.
Barts leads Catawba with a 76.88 stroke average over her 19 rounds entering this week’s SAC Championships. She was the best finisher for the Lady Indians in all nine events and posted five top 10s. She shot her career-low round of 68 at the Rendleman Invitational where she placed fifth.
McDonald is ranked No. 13 nationally by Golfstat. She earned medalist honors three times this season and shot a school record 68 during the Battle of the South. Freeman finished five of eight events in the top 10 this year and posted Anderson’s second lowest adjusting scoring average of the season at 77.81. Thorne earns her second straight Coach of the Year honor.
The 2018 South Atlantic Conference Women’s Golf Championship will run for Sunday, April 15 through Tuesday, April 17, at The Members Club at Woodcreek in Elgin, S.C. Tee times will begin at 8:30 a.m. on all three days. Live results for all three rounds can be found online at www.thesac.com.
