Women's Lacrosse Drops Game at Queens
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Queens topped visiting Catawba 16-10 in South Atlantic Conference women’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Dickson Field. Queens ups its record to 8-8 overall and 6-1 in the SAC. The Catawba Indians fall to 9-7 and 5-2.
Queens took an early edge using a five-goal spurt in the opening 10 minutes to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 6-2 lead. Catawba trailed 9-5 at the half then rallied to within a goal on scores by Gianna Pezzulo, Katie Barth and Erin Green in the opening eight minutes of the second half.
The Royals responded with three straight goals to move back up 12-8. Brooklyn Tilley closed the gap to 13-10 with 10:05 left, but Queens scored the final three goals to take the win.
Barth scored three goals for Catawba with Green having two goals and two assists. Pezzulo and Tilley also scored two goals, while Madison Anselmo made 10 saves. Hannah Scott caused four turnovers and had three ground balls.
Queens got four goals and two assists from Hanna Scott and four goals with one assist from Shannon Mansberg. Katie Wardle tallied twice and handed out four assists. Chase Brokow made nine saves.
Catawba will next host Tusculum on Saturday at 4 pm.
