Softball Falls to the Cobras in Two Games
Hartsville, S.C -- Catawba fell short away against Coker in a South Atlantic Conference softball doubleheader at Saleeby-Stokes Softball Field on Tuesday afternoon. The Cobras took game one 2-3 and 1-4 in game two. The Cobras are now 32-14 on the year and 11-7 in conference, while the Lady Indians are 19-24 overall and 11-7 in conference.
Catawba would be the first to break the silence with Taylor Martin hitting a sacrifice fly out to right field scoring Sierrah McCarthy, unearned. Anna Gluhosky would tie the score for Coker in the fifth by doubling to right center and scoring Courtney Boan.
The game would go into overtime with an eighth inning. The Lady Indians Leah Huggins would single to center field for the RBI and scoring unearned Carlee Brawley. The Cobras Hannah Price would single to second base scoring Alex Alverson to tie up the game again. Mindy North filed out to left field for the sacrifice scoring Maria Williamson.
In game two both teams would come out hot scoring in the first inning. Kaylee Cook with the Lady Indians would double down the Left line scoring Allie Baker. Price with the Cobras would homer to left center scoring Williamson for a score of 1-2 ending the first inning. Lilli Otten would single up the middle for Coker scoring Rebekah Addison in the sixth. Morgan Richardson would single to left field scoring Boan for Coker’s final run in game.
Taylor Forehand would take the win in game two giving up four hits and two walks in her six innings on the mound. She would improve to 8-4 overall. Madison Hunter take the loss falling to 8-6 overall and giving up a total of four hits and one walk in the two innings she pitched.
Catawba host Carson Newman on Saturday for a 1 pm doubleheader.
