AIKEN, S.C. -- USC Aiken knocked off Catawba 6-2 in baseball action on Saturday night at Hernandez Stadium. The Pacers improve to 32-17, while the Catawba Indians end their season at 30-24. The season marks the 19th consecutive year that Catawba has won at least 30 games.

An error and back-to-back one-out singles by the Pacers gave USCA an early 2-0 lead in the second. Chandler Rogers and Jose Bonilla produced the run-scoring hits. Brian Parreira singled home a run with two outs in the fourth and a RBI-single by Brady O’Neil and an error pushed the lead to 5-0 after five.

Catawba, who had just two baserunners over the first five frames, finally broke through against Pacer starter Mitch Spence in the sixth. Lee Poteat, who had singled in the third, walked with one out and came around to score on a Chance Bowden double. The record holder for two-baggers finished with 84 in his career.

Zach Refuse relived Spence in the seventh and tossed two perfect frames with five strikeouts until surrendering an unearned run in the ninth. Bowden drew a walk and came around to score on an error off a ground ball by Luke Setzer.

The Indians finished with just three hits. Kyle Smith had the other safety for Catawba, leading off the game with a single. Spence (7-4) finished with 11 strikeouts over his six innings. Rafuse fanned seven over three frames and grabbed his first save.
