Gealy Announces Four Golf Newcomers for 2018-19
SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba College Head Golf Coach, Sam Gealy, has announced the addition of four players for the upcoming 2018-19 season. Joining the women’s program will by Hailey Barajas and Sandra Brink. On the men’s side, Hunter Donahue and Bryson Sprinkle will tee it up for the Catawba Indians in the fall.
Barajas played number one for Ledford High School and led the Panthers to a runner-up finish at the NCHSAA East Regional. She shot a 76 and finished third at the tournament. Barajas placed 10th at the State Tournament. Brink is a transfer from West Virginia Wesleyan and will have two years of eligibility left at Catawba. She had several top five finishes for the Bobcats.
For the men, Donahue had a top 10 finish in the PIAA State Championship while playing for McGuffey High School in Washington, Penn. Sprinkle, from East Rowan High School, was the Player of the Year in the North Piedmont Conference.
“I think both of the ladies will have a very positive impact on this year’s team,” said Gealy. “I expect both the players on the men’s side to compete for a spot in the lineup this coming year.”
