Men's Soccer Edged 1-0 at Erskine

DUE WEST, S.C. -- Catawba was shut out in its season-opener 1-0 by Erskine on Saturday night at Huggins Field. The Flying Fleet improve to 2-0. Catawba’s scheduled opener on Thursday was cancelled doe to lightning.

Dario Pavon scored the lone goal of the match in the 31st minute, taking a pass from Alex Mushata. The Flying Fleet played the final half hour a man down after a red card to Jorge Andres Henao, but Catawba could not come up with an equalizer.

The Catawba Indians held a 13-6 edge in shots, but Erskine keeper Alex Pico made seven saves in keeping a clean sheet. Gianluca Tommasi had four stops for Catawba.

Catawba travels to Mount Olive on Wednesday for a match slated to start at 7 pm.
