Lincoln Memorial Shuts Out Men's Soccer 3-0
SALISBURY, N.C. - Catawba's offense couldn't prevent a 3-0 loss to Lincoln Memorial Saturday at Frock Field.
Searching for their first win in league play, the Indians (1-5-0, 0-3-0) outshot the Railsplitters (3-2-1, 1-1-0) in the first half but were unable to find the back of the net.
Ueslei Silva broke the scoreless tie and gave Lincoln Memorial an early lead when his shot from 17-yards out slid inside the far post and past Catawaba's keeper, Gianluca Tommasi. Miguel Reis doubled the lead in the 26th-minute and the teams went to the half with the Indians trailing 2-0. Victor Peres added an insurance tally in the 58th-minute for the Railsplitters.
Catawba embarks on a two-game road trip next week, beginning in Mars Hill Wednesday, before traveling to Greeneville, Tenn. for a match with the Pioneers of Tusculum.
