Women's Soccer Falls to Lincoln Memorial 2-0
SALISBURY, N.C. - Catawba drops its first game of the season Saturday, with a 2-0 loss to Lincoln Memorial at Frock Field.
The Indians (6-1-0, 2-1-0) outshot the Railsplitters 13-8, including 10 shots in the secold half but Catawba failed in getting one passed Lincoln Memorial's (4-2-0, 1-1-0 SAC) keeper, Ann-Marie O'Connell.
Despite being outshot and not recording a corner kick, the Railsplitters got an unassisted goal from Itzel Ballesteros in the 51st-minute. She assisted on Jessica Cravero's goal at the 72:52 mark, giving Lincoln Memorial some breathing room.
In a physical contest, the Railsplitters committed 24 fouls and recieved four yellow cards, while Catawba was called for nine infractions and one caution.
The Indians host three of their next four opponents, beginning with UNC Pembroke Wednesday. Catawba takes on Tusculum in Greeneville, Tenn. Saturday. Both contests begin at 5 p.m.
