Women's Soccer Drops a 3-1 Decision at Tusculum

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- Anna Sidder's first goal of the season was not enough to propel the Catawba women's soccer team to a win against Tusculum Saturday at Pioneer field. The Indians lost 3-1.

Sidders, Catawba's junior defender, curled her corner kick past the Pioneers' (4-4-1, 2-2-0) defense and into the back of the net at the 64 minute, 39 second mark. The goal cut the Indians' (6-2-0, 2-2-0) deficit to 2-1.

Elise Gallo gave the Pioneers a 1-0 lead when she chipped her shot past Catawba's keeper, Shelby Thompson, in the 25th minute. Sonja Ballmert headed Nicole McMillen's pass inside the far post at the 55:12 mark, doubling the advantage to 2-0. Kaja Anderson closed out the scoring when she put away a cross from Jordan Newby on a volley in the 74th minute.

Up Next
Catawba begins the second half of the regular season with three of its next four game at home, including two next week. Wingate visits Frock Field Wednesday at 5 p.m., before an 8 p.m. start against Shaw Saturday.
