Tusculum Blanks Men's Soccer 4-0
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- Early goals derailed Catawba men's soccer in a 4-0 loss to Tusculum at Pioneer Field Saturday night.
The Pioneers improved to 3-5-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the South Atlantic Conference, while the Indians fell to 1-7-0, 0-5-0.
Henrique Devens opened the scoring for the Pioneers just 14 minutes, 26 seconds into the match. Mathias Grimstad assisted on the marker. Midway through the period, Devens struck again on an assist by Dario Ljubic at 24:11.
Fabian Proesch added an unassisted marker in the 70th minute and Ayuk Tambe recorded the final tally on an assist from Endjick Albert in the 88th minute.
Inside the numbers
- Tusculum doubled up Catawba in shots, 16-8.
- The Indians registered two corners, while the Pioneers notched six.
- Catawba was called for 10 fouls and one yellow card, while Tusculum committed 20 infractions and two yellow cards.
Catawba returns home with matches against Wingate and Shaw next week. The Indians host Wingate Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and Shaw at 8 p.m. Saturday.
