Eagles Edge Indians 2-1 in Season Finale
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Catawba drops the season finale to Carson-Newman 2-1 Saturday at Harvey Stadium.
The Indians finish with a mark of 3-12-0 overall and 0-10-0 in the South Atlantic Conference, while the Eagles complete the campaign at 8-4-3 in all contests and 4-3-3 in league play.
Neither team scored in the first half but Carson-Newman struck twice in the first nine minutes of the final period.
Jonny Le Quesne found Drew Bridge, who placed his shot across the mouth of the goal and into the right side at the 48:24 mark, beating Catawba’s keeper, Gianluca Tommasi. Tobias Solem Karlsen made the lead 2-0 when he finished a pass from Bridge, at the 53:35 mark.
On the ensuing kick-off, Catawba pushed the pace and benefited from an Eagles’ foul in the box, resulting in a penalty kick for the Indians. Hunter Faust stepped to the spot and netted his team high sixth goal of the season at 53:54. Catawba continue the offensive push but was unable to get the equalizer.

- Carson-Newman outshot Catawba 22-6 and holding a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
-The Eagles recorded 12 fouls and one yellow card, while the Indians were whistled for eight infractions and a yellow.
- Faust and Borja Gaspar recorded two shots each for Catawba.
