Catawba Cracks Top 25

SALISBURY, N.C. – Catawba men’s basketball earned its first ranking in a national poll in over a decade Tuesday.

The Indians cracked the National Association of Basketball Coaches top-25, at No. 24. This is the first time Catawba has been ranked since 2009. In the Division II Sports Information Directors Association poll, the Indians narrowly missed cracking the top-25. Bentley and Washburn are tied at No. 24 with 45 votes while Catawba received 40. Queens ranks sixth.

Overall, the Indians secured a top-25 ranking, 20 times previously. Catawba vaulted into the top-10 twice, with the highest being ninth Dec. 16, 2008. The longest consecutive streak in the polls for the program is 10 weeks. After the 1997-98 season, Catawba recorded its highest finish in the final poll of any season when the Indians ranked 23rd.

The Indians host Queens at Enoch A. Goodman Gym at 8 p.m. Wednesday, in a matchup of two top-25 teams. Queens, 15-2, 7-0, moved up three spots from last week, cracking the top-10 at No. 10.
