Swepson Sets Shot Put Mark, Carter Wins Triple Jump at Camel City Inv.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Catawba closed out the 2019 Camel City Invitational Indoor Track & Field Meet on Saturday at the JDL Fast Track. On day two, Candace Swepson set a school mark in the women’s shot put, while Jones Carter took first place in the men’s triple jump. 

Swepson threw a new record with her 11.42 meter throw to finish 19th in the shot put. Carter topped the triple jump field with his leap of 13.98 meters. Josiah Lane placed sixth with his jump of 13.23 meters. Darius Turner just missed the 60 meter final as he placed ninth in the prelims.

Next weekend, the track and field teams will compete at the VMI Winter Relays on Friday and Saturday.
