Malul Lowers Her 200 Fly Record at Royal Open
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Several Catawba swimmers participated at the Royal Open on Friday and Saturday. One of the performances came from Oryan Malul, who broke her own record in the 200 fly with a swim of 2:11.46.
Malul would set the record twice. She went 2:11.79 in the prelim before another record swim in the final. Her final swim was six-tenths of a second better that the mark she set last weekend.
Carolin Albers had NCAA II B cut swims in the 500 free and 200 free, while Alan Hudgens swam a personal best in the 500 free (4:41.47) and Matt Arnold in the 200 back (2:00.17). Albers had a 5:04.45 in the 500 free prelim which was the fifth best time in school history. She went 1:53.16 in the 200 for the fourth fastest in history.
Albers and Carolin Bek had a pair of top five all-time swims in the 1000 free. Albers went 10:28.56 for second fastest and Bek a 10:29.97 for fourth fastest.
