Men's Golf Rallies to Win NGU Invitational Behinid Mulkey's Four-Under Round
BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. -- Catawba shot a second round 293 to win the NGU Men’s Invitational Golf Tournament on Tuesday. The tournament was held at the 6,931-yard, par-72 Columbia Country Club.
Catawba trailed by six entering the final round, but buoyed by a career-low round by Tyler Mulkey, the Indians moved past host North Greenville, who had a 308 in round two. Catawba finished with a 596 total and won by six shots over Erskine. Franklin Pierce and Palm Beach Atlantic, who led Catawba after Monday, suffered rounds of 311 and 310, respectively to fall off the pace.
Mulkey’s round moved him to a runner-up finish. His 145 score with a shot behind Erskine’s Zach McLain, who had rounds of 73 and 71 to post an even-par 144. Tanner Bibey and Mack Sheppard recorded top 10s as each carded a 149 to place eighth. Mulkey and Bibey each had seven birdies, the second most in the field. AJ Boyd had one of three eagles and Sheppard led the field with 25 pars.
Men’s golf will be in Greenwood, S.C. next week, competing in the Bearcat Invitational.
