Football Gears Up For April Spring Game
The Catawba football has begun its spring workouts and held its first scrimmage on Saturday. The annual Spring Game will take place at Shuford Stadium on April 6 at 11 a.m.
“Today we were able to get some questions answered,” stated Head Coach Curtis Walker. “We had a good day.”
Cam Davis led a defensive line that combined for four sacks. Jeremiah Ferguson was a good vocal leader and veterans Trey Murray and LJ Melvin played well and have become strong leaders. Melvin had two tackles for loss and Murray six total stops. Brenden Westbrook has become very comfortable in his role at safety and made an interception.
“There is an exciting mix of younger players getting their chance to showcase their talent and a good group of strong leaders,” stated Walker. “I can’t wait until we get back on the field.”
