Women's Tennis Drops Decision to Wingate
WINGATE, N.C. -- Catawba fell to 19th-ranked Wingate 5-2 in South Atlantic Conference women’s tennis action on Tuesday afternoon at the Wingate Tennis Complex. The Bulldogs improve to 13-0 overall and 6-0 in the SAC. The Catawba Indians, who played without injured #4 player Carolina Correia, fall to 11-5 and 2-3.
The Lady Indians were down 1-0 after doubles and got singles wins at #2 by Sophie Hirsch and at #3 by Una Pandurevic. Pandurevic won in straight sets, while Hirsch battled back for a three-set win. Hirsch fought off two match points and won in a third-set tiebreaker.
Catawba hosts Anderson on Saturday at 1 p.m.
