Fanzo Nets Seven Goals as Men's Lacrosse Rolls Past Mars Hill
MARS HILL, N.C. -- Cole Fanzo scored seven goals as Catawba rolled to a 16-4 win over host Mars Hill in South Atlantic Conference men’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Meares Stadium. The 19th-ranked Catawba Indians ran its record win streak to eight games and improved to 8-2 overall and 5-0 in the SAC. The Lions fall to 3-7 and 0-5.
Fanzo tallied four times in the opening half as the Indians built a 9-2 edge. When the senior scored back-to-back in the first minute and a half of the fourth quarter, Catawba led 16-2.
Freshman Christian Norrie picked up three goals, while Tony Bellotte scored twice. Trevor Bellotte had a goal and four assists with Joe Barber added a goal and three assists. Robert Morrison delivered three assists.
Shawn Casebolt won 16-of-24 face-offs and grabbed nine ground balls. Kevin Geiger played the majority of the game in goal and posted eight saves. Hunter Cheuvront played the final 11 minutes and stopped a pair of shots.
Zac Carrigan had two goals for the Lions. Joel Borman made eight saves with Ryan Prylinski adding five.
Catawba travels to Limestone on Friday for a 7 p.m. match up with the second-ranked Saints.
