Women's Golf Slips to Ninth at SAC Championships
HICKORY, N.C. -- Catawba slipped back three spots after Monday’s second round of the South Atlantic Conference Women’s Golf Championships. Catawba is in ninth place heading into the final round on Tuesday at the 6,065-yard, par-72 Fox Run Course of the Lake Hickory Country Club at Catawba Springs.
Kaley Barts had the best day for Catawba with a 78 and is tied for 18th with a 156 total after two rounds. Sandra Brink posted an 82 and joins Barts in 18th. Sarah Coltrane and Hailey Barajas would also card a score of 82 on Monday. Catawba had four birdies on the day. Barts and Coltrane birdied the par-4 sixth with Barts adding another on the par-4 13th. Barajas scored a birdie on the par-4 12th.
Catawba had a team score of 324 in round two and after two rounds has posted a 639 total. Anderson jumped into the lead after a 298 in round two. Their 609 is two shots better than Lenoir-Rhyne and Wingate.
Sarah Coltrane and Kaley Barts made the turn at two-over-par and were still at +2 through 16, but each found trouble on the final two holes. Coltrane finished with a 77 and Barts a 78. Both are in the top 20 after one round.
Wingate’s Diana McDonald and Carson-Newman’s Maeve Cummins share the individual lead entering the final round. Cummins’ even-par 72 pushed her up into the tie with a 147 total. Megan Robb, of Lenoir-Rhyne, is a shot back in third.
