Football Caps Spring Practices With Blue/White Scrimmage
Catawba capped its spring scrimmages with the annual Blue/White Game on Saturday at Shuford Stadium. The Catawba Indians will now gear up for the 2019 opener which will be on September 7 at home against West Georgia.
The offense versus defense scrimmage ended on a high note for the offense with its only score of the game coming on the last play. Kendall Davis tossed a five-yard pass to Demonte Good for the touchdown.
Three quarterbacks shared duties on Saturday with Ken Avent III completing 4-of-10 passes for 29 yards. Davis was 3-of-5 for 11 yards and Brandon Stewart went 2-for-4 for four yards. Nine different receivers had a reception.
Five of Catawba’s rushing plays went for over 10 yards. Good started the game with back-to-back runs of 10 and 17. He finished with 30 yards. Nasjzae Bryant led the rushers with 38 yards and ripped off a 15-yard run. Chylon Thomas put up the biggest play of the day on a 40-yard run.
