Men's Lacrosse Handled by Lenoir-Rhyne
HICKORY, N.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne jumped to a 7-1 lead after a quarter and went on to down visiting Catawba 17-5 in South Atlantic Conference men’s lacrosse action on Wednesday night at Moretz Stadium. The Bears up their record to 5-7 overall and 4-2 in the SAC, while the Catawba Indians fall to 8-4 and 5-1.
Christian Norrie cut an early LR lead to 2-1 midway through the first quarter before the Bears reeled off seven straight goal to go on top 9-1 at the 11:59 mark of the second quarter. The Lenoir-Rhyne defense shut Catawba down, allowing just two goals over the first three quarter in building a 14-2 lead.
Joe Barter had two goals and an assist for the Indians. Cole Fanzo picked up a goal and an assist. Kevin Geiger posted 13 saves in just over 56 minutes of action.
Joe Buduo had four goals and three assists for the Bears. Quinn Kuhn and Eric Dickinson collected three goals. Noah Johnson racked up 14 saves in 55 minutes of action in goal for LR.
Catawba will host nationally-ranked Queens on Saturday at 1 p.m.
