Bibey Shoots 69 in Opening Round of SAC Men's Golf Championships


CAMDEN, S.C. -- Catawba carded a 294 in the opening round of the South Atlantic Conference Men’s Golf Championships on Sunday at the 6,526-yard, par-70 Camden Country Club. The Catawba Indians stand sixth after the first of three rounds.

Tanner Bibey had a strong start for Catawba, finishing the opening round at one-under-par. He stands in a tie for fourth. Bibey posted five birdies on his round. Tyler Mulkey came back after shooting four over on his first nine, which started on No. 10. He carded three of his four birdies on his final nine to shoot two-under and finished with a 72 and in 12th place.

Mack Sheppard had three birdies, all on his final nine, while Hunter Donahue also posted three birdies. AJ Boyd made two birdies.

Newberry blistered the course to lead after round one. The Wolves shot a two-under-par 278 to lead Coker. Harry Bolton, of Newberry, leads individually with a 66 in Sunday’s round. He leads by two shots over teammate Adrian Villiger and Henry Bryden, of Queens.
