Women's Lacrosse Rolls Past Chowan
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba rolled to an 18-6 win against Chowan in women’s lacrosse action on Monday afternoon at Hawks Field. The win upped the Catawba Indians to 7-8, while the Hawks fall to 1-11.
Catawba scored the first five goals and went on to lead 12-1 late in the first half. The Lady Indians out-shot the hosts 32-13.
Colleen Green scored three goals and added an assist, while Gianna Pezzulo had a goal and six helpers to lead the Catawba offense. Brooklyn Tilley was one of five players to score twice and added two assists. Tashana Baranett had three goals for the Hawks, while Mallory Dunker made 10 saves.
Jillian Kurolvech scored the first of her two goals two and half minutes into the game and after Green and Pezzulo added goals it was 3-0 after six minutes of play. Green made it 5-0 at the 18:50 mark and Nicole Hunt had the second of her two tallies with 4:28 left in the half for the 12-1 edge.
Catawba closes out the regular season on Saturday in a league game at Tusculum at noon.
