Bibey Takes Third at Anderson Men's Invitational
ANDERSON, S.C. -- Catawba finished fifth at the season-opening Anderson Invitational Men’s Golf Tournament, which was held at the 6,922-yard, par-72 Cobb’s Glen Country Club. Junior Tanner Bibey finished third overall, missing a playoff by a single shot after another 71 on Tuesday.
Bibey posted a 142 total, while Reece Coleman, of Anderson, and Eric Shea, of Southern Wesleyan, was a shot better at 141. Shea, who got into the playoff with a 69 in the final round, won on the first playoff hole. Mack Sheppard shot a 75 on Tuesday and finished 15th with a 150 total.
Southern Wesleyan took team honors, firing a 289 on Tuesday to move up from third overnight. They posted a total of 582 to edge host Anderson by four shots. Catawba carded a 302 Tuesday and finished at 598.
Bibey was six-under on the par 5s during the tournament and led the Indians with eight birdies, second most in the field. Sheppard and Bryson Sprinkle each posted five birdies.
Catawba will return to the course in two weeks at the King Invitational being held at the Country Club of Bristol.
