Womens Soccer Goes To 2-0 On The Season With 2-1 Win

Florence, S.C. -- The Catawba womens soccer team came up with their second win of the season with a road victory against Francis Marion 2-1. It was all Indians from the get-go, as Catawba scored the first two goals of the match and out-shot the Patriots 16-9. The scoring started with Shelby Vasich in the 27th minute to put Catawba up 1-0.

The Indians controlled the match throughout, but the score remained 1-0 until Callie Hammond put one in the back of the net to give the Indians a 2-0 lead. Francis Marion fought back soon after with a goal by Dayle McEwen just two minutes later, but that would be it for the Patriots on the night.

Goalie Shelby Thompson got her first win of the season while collecting 3 saves on the night. Sarah Bissett also chipped in with one assist on the match.

Catawba gets back on the field this Saturday as they gear up for their first home game with a match-up against USC Aiken. Gametime is set for 7 p.m.
