Mens Soccer Gets First Win in Dominating Fashion; Win 4-0
Tigerville, S.C. -- The Catawba mens soccer team dominated North Greenville in the second half to get their first win of the season by a score of 4-0. Four different players scored for the Indians on the night.
The Indians threatened multiple times in the first half but could not come through with an early goal despite outshooting NGU by a large margin. The Crusaders held on in the first half, but Catawba came out firing in half number two when Borja Gaspar scored from inside the box off an assist by Simone Trentin to give Catawba a 1-0 lead.
In the 70th minute, Hunter Faust found the goal off a penalty kick to put Catawba up 2-0. Sam Henneberg then scored in the 81st minute off an assist by Ben Bielby to put the game away. The final goal came from Jonathan Guevera by an assist from Joel Hildebrant and Joseph Alleron.
For the match, the Indians out-shot NGU 25-9, including 14-4 in shots on goal.
Next up for Catawba is a match-up with Queens University next Wednesday, September 18th on their home turf. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
