Mens Soccer Downed By Queens in Conference Opener
Salisbury, N.C. -- It was a tough night for the Catawba mens soccer team as they opened the SAC season with a 4-1 loss to Queens. It was also the 2019 home opener for the mens squad.
Queens got the scoring started early on as David Alvarez scored in the 10th minute off an assist from Keegan Burton. Goal number two came shortly after when Burton scored one of his own to make it 2-0.
In the 30th minute, Queens scored again when Elvis Menayese put one home to stretch the lead to 3-0. In the second half, Queens scored their final goal in the 59th minute off the foot of Burton once again.
The Indians would avoid the shut-out when Simone Trentin scored his second goal of the season to make it 4-1 in the 88th minute. Queens out-shot Catawba 15-11 for the match.
This Saturday afternoon the Indians hit their home turf again when they host Mars Hill. Game time is scheduled for 5 pm.
