Barts Takes Medalist Honors at the Rendleman Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba’s Kaley Barts held on to take medallist honors at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational Women’s Golf Tournament on Tuesday. Catawba hosted the event at the 5,973-yard, par-72 Country Club of Salisbury.

Barts followed her record 67 with a 76 on Tuesday, but took top honors by a single stroke over Alicia Fajardo, of Coker, and Katy Flax, of UNC Pembroke. Flax shot a 68 in the final round after an opening 76. Fajardo had rounds of 70 and 74 to finish a shot back on 144. Joining the trio on the all-tournament team was Caroline Hardee, of Lander, at 145, and Ebba Hoffman, of Limestone, at 146.

Limestone won the team title after a second-day 288 score. The Saints finished on 586, five shots ahead of UNC Pembroke, who also shot 288 on Tuesday. Catawba, the first-round leader, posted a 317 after its record 297 on Monday. The Lady Indians had a 614 total.

Barts shared the tournament lead with 10 birdies over the 36 holes. Haley Barajas, who played as an individual, recorded six birdies and placed 23rd with a 152 total.

Catawba travels to Dahlonega, Ga., next week for the LeeAnn Noble Memorial tournament at the Achasta Golf Club.
