Salisbury, N.C. -- The Catawba men's soccer team (5-4, 2-3 SAC) is back over .500 as they defeated Lees-McRae (2-6-2, 2-3-1 SAC) 4-2 tonight at Frock Soccer Complex. The Indians scored three goals in the second half to help secure the win.

Catawba got on the board early in the first half as Borja Gaspar scored in the 9th minute to put the Indians ahead 1-0. After Borja's goal, the teams played a relatively quiet first half.

The second half provided a lot of action as the teams combined for five goals. Johannes Oeksnevad scored for Lees-McRae early in half number two to tie the game 1-1. Then in the 69th minute Stephon Davis put one in the net for Lees-McRae to put them ahead 2-1.

The Catawba offense turned up the heat late in the half as they scored three goals in the final twenty minutes. Michael Nuguse scored the game-tying goal in the 70th minute, and then nine minutes later Ryan Marro scored to give the Indians a 3-2 lead.

The final goal came off the foot of Nuguse again off a corner kick to give the Indians a 4-2 lead. A total of four yellow cards were given during the match, with three of them going against Lees-McRae.

Up next for Catawba is a match this Saturday at Lincoln Memorial. Game time is set for 3:30 pm.
