Men's Golf Fifth Entering Final Round of Donald Ross Intercollegiate
MORGANTON, N.C. -- Catawba sits in a tie for fifth after day one of the Donald Ross Intercollegiate Men’s Golf Tournament. The tournament is being hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne at the 6,718-yard, par-70 Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club.
Belmont Abbey went six-under-par as a team in round two to grab the lead through play on Monday. Belmont Abbey shot 274 in the second round and posted a 565 for Monday’s opening 36 holes. Anderson is one shot back and Erskine trails by three. Catawba shares fifth with a 581 score, shooting rounds of 292 and 289.
Tanner Bibey is in fourth place for Catawba. He shot rounds of 70 and 69 to post a one-under 139 entering the final round. A.J. Boyd carded a 143 and stands 13th. Belmont Abbey’s Ben Loudermilk holds the overall lead with a 136, which included a six-under 64 in round two. Erskine’s Alberto Avila is a shot back and Reece Coleman, of Anderson, is two shots back.
The 54-hole tournament will conclude with an 18-hole round on Tuesday.
