Bibey Takes Fourth at Donald Ross Intercollegiate
MORGANTON, N.C. -- Catawba junior Tanner Bibey finished fourth and helped the Catawba Indians finish sixth at Donald Ross Intercollegiate Men’s Golf Tournament. The 54-hole tournament concluded on Tuesday at the 6,718-yard, par-70 Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club.
Bibey followed his one-under total after day one with a one-under 69 on Tuesday to post a 208 total. The 208 score for the three rounds is the second lowest in school history behind a 204 shot by Todd Sapere in 1997. He finished three shots off the 205 shot by medallist Alberto Avila, of Erskine. Reece Coleman, of Anderson, was second at 206 and Belmont Abbey’s Ben Loudermilk third at 207.
Belmont Abbey claimed the team title with an 850 score. That was three shots better than Anderson. Catawba had an 976 score. AJ Boyd followed Bibey in the Catawba lineup with a total of 218 and placed 18th. Bibey finished with 11 birdies over the three rounds. Boyd had 10 birdies and an eagle.
Catawba will wrap up its fall slate next Monday and Tuesday in the Queens Invitational at the Irish Creek Country Club in Kannapolis, N.C.
