Men's Basketball Tops Augusta 94-82
Augusta, GA -- In a tough road match-up at #13 Augusta Tuesday night (2-2), the Catawba men's basketball team (3-1) defeated the Jaguars 94-82.
The game was close throughout but the Indians held the lead for the majority of the second half. Daquan Lilly helped lead Catawba with 20 points on the night.
The Indians held a slim 46-42 lead at the half. Lilly would score 11 of his 20 points in the first half, while Devin Cooper had 5 points and 3 assists in half number one.
The second half saw Marcell Haskett come off the bench to score 14 points for the Indians. Haskett would finish with 22 on the night to lead Catawba in scoring.
Lilly and Cooper would score 9 points each in the second half to help Catawba seal the win. Along with Haskett two other Indians, Terrence Whitfield and Malik Constantine, scored in double digits off the bench.
Catawba would shoot 49% from the field as a team and shot 33% from the three point line. Augusta would win the rebound battle 39-38.
The bench played a huge role for the Indians as they out-scored the Jaguars' bench 43-12.
This Saturday Catawba will play their home opener against Young Harris at 4 pm.
